Hi Bob:
I have two suggestions:
1) Please look into getting and showing a 1990 Special Cable Show entitled “The Republic Pictures Story”. I would and I’m sure all your viewers age 55 and up would enjoy seeing their favorite “Serial” stars again and what they looked like in 1990.
2) You need to start having a nostalgic “Saturday Double Feature Movie Day”. Show a late 1940’s or early 1950’s News Reel, followed by 5 Cartoons (like Tom & Jerry, Donald Duck, Pop Eye, Mighty Mouse etc.) followed by a Classic 40’s or 50’s Movie, followed by a weekly Chapter Serial (like Captain America, Perils of Nyoka, Dick Tracy etc.), followed by a Three Stooges Short or A “Pete Smith Special Short”, followed by a 2nd. 40’s or 50’s Classic Movie, followed by a “Travelog” and round out the afternoon with 5 more classic Cartoons.
This is what we kids used to go and see every Saturday afternoon at our local movie houses in the 1940’s and 1950’s. Try it for a while this summer. I believe it would become very popular on AMC. Additionally from an old marketing guy and from a marketing standpoint I’m sure your advertisers would appreciate being viewed on this type special movie day. NOTE: “No charge for that bit of advice!”
I grew up in Miami, Florida and Saturday Afternoon at the Movies was a really big part of a kid’s social life. I used to attend the “Strand Theater”, the “Dade Theater” and/or the “Center Theater”, all located in my N.W. Miami neighborhood just a short 5 or 10 minute ride on my Schwinn bicycle. After the show we would all gather at the local neighborhood malt shop, play the juke box and drink fountain Cokes.I hope you’ll take my suggestions to heart. Best regards;
GORDON

What movies did you show the weekend of Feb 6th and 7th. What was the title of the one that a man and woman were looking for something in the mountains and discovered it was a tribe of Indians that nobody knew was living there? You were celebrating the movie “Dances With Wolves” that weekend also.

We are a family with children who were really looking forward to the 3 Stooges marathon on New Years Eve/Day. Unfortunately, the disgusting, animalistic, bloody commercials (for movies upcoming on your channel) every 10 minutes (or less) make it impossible to share these classics with our kids….You just lost us as viewers….

i’ll make this short . AMC sucks. you’ve let the corporate bean counters take over and now you don’t have a station worth watching. what happened to the real classics made in the 30’s and 40’s. laurel and hardy, humphrey bogart, tarzan, the thin man, and the list goes on and on. we’re taking amc off the channel line up of every tv in the house as of right now. even if we planned to watch it again we wouldn’t. we’re sick of the ads every 5 minutes. it’s not worth watching. mc

Do you have a DVD of Camelot, starring Robert Goulet? What is the price of purchase?

Wanted to make an inquire about an old movie I have’nt seen in ages. It’s a western starring Audie Murphy. The movie is called “Fort Petticoat”. I think it’s about an army deserter who runs across a group of women in a run down old church in the middle of indian country and teaches them to survive. I was wondering whatever happened to it. You show alot of Audie Murphy movies, but I’ve never seen this one. Thank you

I have been watching AMC since I was a very little girl. I even subscribed to AMC magazine for several years. I’m now 29 and I still enjoy tuning in. However, while watching one of my favorite holiday comedies, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, I was surprised to see that the scene in which Aunt Bethany says grace was edited so that the words ‘under God’ were not spoken in the Pledge of Allegiance. REALLY, AMC?! I find this absurd for several reasons. 1) The family is saying ‘grace’ while 2), celebrating CHRISTMAS as per the title of the film … decidedly God-centered activities. Third, you’ve equated the words ‘under God’ with another line edited from the film, “…the ****er was full!” (Those of you familiar with the film know this hilarious scene …) I could go on about how you’ve also tampered with the artistic integrity of the film beyond the limits of censorship … etc.
Mind you, I don’t approach this as being offensive from a religious perspective. I just think it’s ridiculous. I grew up saying the pledge, as did most people my age, and while I respect the right of any one else NOT to say it, I think it’s unwarranted to change the words of the Pledge of Allegiance for the sake of an American television broadcast of an American film airing on American Movie Classics.
Please think about it.
