more comments from our readers (this one is from: BoolahBoolah regarding amc pop ups)

The screen is SO full of sh*t, I’ve BLOCKED AMC and have emailed your advertisers, and will NOT buy any of their products.  I KNOW what I’m watching, but now, you have THREE corners of the screen with bullshit all over the place.  The logo was bad enough, but this bull sh*t, well, go f*ck yourself.

Occasionaly you have a movie that I Would like to watch. You are filling my screen with all of these pop ups and now you are interupting the program with these movie notes. It is very disrupting. I know every thing that I want to know with out this distraction. I will not watch your programming any longer.

We know that commericals pays the bills. And by now you have had your share of complients.  This channel featured commerical free programming for years.  Is there anything can be done about this situation?

1) COMMERCIALS! You guys used to run most “movies” commercial free, or at least with “limited” commercials, but NOW you run more commercials than ANY other channel. If that wasn’t bad enough, the amount of commercial time versus movie time is ridiculous. You’ll run 10 minutes of the movie, followed by 15 straight minutes of commercial. The ratio is so far out of proportion that I’ll end up losing interest waiting for the show to come back on, and change channels.

It would be semi-understandable, if the revenue from the commercials was paying for broadcasting over the air, where your channel was free to everyone, but when people first started paying for satellite and cable, it was to get commercial free TV. Back in those days it was just HBO, and a few others and folks were willing to pay for the service even though there were plenty of networks broadcasting totally free TV. The sole reason they “were” willing to pay, was they got to watch movies in their homes, commercial free. Now I feel like I’m getting ripped off by “everyone” involved in the supply chain. First off, I pay over $50/month for basic cable. For that price I get about 60 channels of which I get to choose none. From those 60, I found about 4 that are actually worth watching. Now I feel like I’m paying $50/month to be bombarded with commercials. I compare the experience with this: say your using your cell phone that you pay $50/month for to talk to your family that lives across the country and during the phone conversation, about every 10 minutes the operator breaks in on your conversation, puts your family on hold, and forces you to listen to 15 minutes of a telemarketing pitch before you can resume your conversation!

The government has finally put laws in place to protect people from the telemarketing, and setup “do not call” lists, but for some reason we are all subjected to this same thing constantly while trying to relax and enjoy a TV show.

We have just watched our last movie on AMC,…and that’s too bad. We are long-time viewers, from back in the commercial free days. I am a retired broadcaster and understand the need for commercials to pay the bills. But AMC, like most all other commercial channels, have gone way too far! You can’t follow a story line anymore. I know many other people who feel the same,…and your “Commercial Complaints” page speaks for itself,…but it appears not to matter to AMC

Like many others comments, you used to be a great channel, now it’s mostly commercials and you show the same crap all the time, you now remind me of our gov’t.
pay, pay, and get nothing in return.

I feel it very hard to support AMC.
I remember years ago, when I paid the premium to view AMC,
commercial free. Now I still pay a premium, but it seems like there are more commercials than the movie… I sometimes forget what I am watching. There’s an old say about sh__, shower, and shave. With as many commercials you play, I can do that quite easily. If I could delete AMC from Dish Network, and deduct the premium, I would gladly cancel AMC from my lineup..

To Whom it May Concern,

I am telling everyone I know to stop watching your channel and to complain to their cable company about your poor programming policy. I do not understand how you can justify 5 minutes of commercials after only 10 minutes of your movies. I was under the impression that one of the reasons I would choose to watch you on cable was to not be subjected to a deluge of commercials. I was very much interested in watching, The Kingdom, on Sunday night, but your constant frequent interruptions really took away my enjoying the movie and I finally turned it off.

I have a very substantial network of business contacts all across North America and Canada. I don’t know if you are on any Canadian stations but you can expect complaints in the Canadian market as well. I have at least 12,000 personal contacts and I can assure you from the time we have been in business together they will honor my request to encourage all of their contacts to do the same.

Oh, by the way, if you think this is petty and I am over reacting you maybe right; however, I do not take much time to watch television so when I do I expect to watch the program I am interested in not a bunch of commercials.

I am appalled at the AXE commercial that aired on Monday morning around 10:00 a.m. The subject was “ball cleaning.” It was full of dirty innuendos and should never have been shown on television, I don’t care what cable channel you are!!
